On a early sunday morning we entered the basement of the Veterinary School Of Anderlecht [Cureghem], well known as the Horror Labs. On first sight this seemingly innocent building lodges the remains of what could have bin a mad proffesors "science". This magnificant place is absolute unique, even though we knew what we could expect we where astonished by the sight of dozens labeled jars, filled with frogs, puppies, cats a dogs head, together with all kinds of animal parts. It's so highly unlikely, so unreal!

A bit of history. The former school or Veterinary exists from 19 buildings. All spread concerning a surface of 4 ha. Each building rests on impressive cellars, mutually linked by galleries with passages. All façades of the buildings are build in a Flemish neorenaissance style, seperated by gardens and surrounded with a impressive fence. The construction project lasted from 1903 up to 1909 and the site had been inaugurated in 1910. The school of veterinary surgeons took the complex in use as from 1969 up to 1990. During the summer the veterinairy school leaves Anderlecht, to establish itselve in Sart-Tilman [Liege], where as of now the lessons take place.

The roof work and the original façades of the buildings and the whole complex are protected as a monument as from 1991. Whereupon the decline slowly did it's entrance. Since some time a number of buildings has been renewed into lofts. For the last abandoned building the modernisation will soon take place. At present the labeled jars with animal parts can be found in the cellar and on the first floor, together with medical instruments and some medecine/chemical bottles.
